On Thursday, January 22, 2026, the first annual meeting of the BWP/NAD Board of Directors took place via video conference. In attendance were Directors Stacy Brass, Linda de Boer, Peggy Fuller DVM, Morgan Kennedy-Reihsen, Emmanuelle Mongeon, Robert Mendoza, Christina Parker and Kimmy Risser. The purpose of this meeting was to introduce the new Board Members to governance of the organization, and to go over the past year's registrations and changes.

Also reviewed during the January 22nd meeting was the recent meeting with BWP in Belgium from January 10, 2026 in Lier, Belgium. In attendance were BWP representatives Davy Shrurers (Secretary, Borad of Directors, BWPVZW), Rudi Eerdekens (NAD Liaison for BWPVZW office) and Dr. Stephen Kelchermans (BWP Veterinarian) alongside BWP NAD representatives Stacy Brass, Linda de Boer, Peggy Fuller DVM, Robert Mendoza, Christina Parker and Kimmy Risser. The North American BOD discussed with Belgium changes in cost of registrations, registration deadlines and the future of the studbook in North America.

Due to the amount of information needing to be covered during the January 22nd meeting, the BOD will be having a second meeting in no later than two weeks time to vote on BOD Officer positions and Committee seats. Once BOD Committee seats are filled, the BOD will be reaching out the the membership for Committee seats.

Key takeaways from this past week's meeting include:

  • Registration deadlines (all DNA, microchips and markings must be completed by these dates)

    • November 30 (round 1) - DNA sent by November 15

    • February 28 (round 2) - DNA sent by February 15

    • any registrations incomplete or submitted after the round 2 date will be submitted with the next year's registrations, this is to aid in keeping shipping costs low.

  • Clarification on Klasse II and Klasse III foals will be more easily available to prospective breeders on the website

  • P-Label mare predicate requirements in both dressage and jumping will be more readily available to mare owners.

  • Dressage and Jumping direction horse scores will now be split after the Keuring Tour; breeders must declare direction when registering their foals for inspection and registration

  • Keuring Tour planning deadlines are as follows:

    • April 1, host applications due

    • May 30, veterinary examination for stallions and G-Label mare candidates due

    • August 1, Keuring entries due, those received after will incur a late-entry fee

  • Full Welsh ponies are permitted entry into the Stud Book and Mare Book; however, Welsh x Welsh cannot be registered in the BRp Foal Book.

  • Pony stallions will need to submit a set of radiographs for approval
