Stallion Performance Requirements

Top: Elite BWP/NAD stallion, Carrasca Z. Right: Provisionally appproved BWP/NAD stallion Urianto vd Dries.
Provisionally approved stallions must meet these requirements two out of the four years following his provisional approval. Performance years run according to the birthdate of the stallion. The “timeline” of the four years provisional status begins January 1 post Keuring provisional approval year. Stallions must remain activated with BWP/NAD throughout their provisional status.
Stallions failing to meet these requirements will have their licenses and provisional approval revoked. The BWP/NAD and BWP/BE Studbook Committees can review and grant extensions for completion of performance due to injury or illness with proper veterinary documentation.
All approved stallions must present offspring that exhibit consistent quality with the standards set forth by the BWP. If a stallion does not present performance records annually or the foal crop is determined to be consistently inferior, his license may be rescinded by the BWP/NAD and BWP/BE Studbook Committees.
Please note, provisionally approved stallions that become deactivated prior to completing permanent approval, must be presented for full inspection and veterinary evaluation again. There will be a reinstatement fee of $500.00.
